Kate Johnston
Therapeutic Play Practitioner and Counsellor
Kate holds a First Class Honours degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling and has undertaken further training in Play Therapy. She is passionate about supporting children and young people to feel safe, understood, and empowered. Kate has worked across a variety of settings, both within and outside of education, supporting individuals with special educational needs, emotional and behavioural challenges, and experiences of trauma. Prior to working mainly in schools, she worked closely with looked-after children and care leavers, shaping her compassionate and trauma-informed approach.
Her practice is rooted in creativity and person-centred values, with a strong focus on helping children develop emotional regulation skills. Kate aims to provide a warm, safe, and accepting space where each child can explore, heal, and grow at their own pace.
Outside of work, Kate enjoys Reformer Pilates and long walks with her two miniature dachshunds, Baloo and Bagel.
